Elissa Marie Ketokoski was born in Sparta, Minnesota in the Iron Range area. All her grandparents came from Finland at the beginning of the 20th century: Aina Syrjälä from Menkijärvi, Otto Isopahkala from Himanka, Johan Lindfors (later Ketokoski) from Tuusula and Helga Polso from

Elissa spent her youth in Minnesota, but life led her to Venice in Los Angeles, where she has now lived for over thirty years. Elissa Della Rocca has done volunteer work in many Finnish associations and has assisted her husband Renato in his law office.
