Anita & Phil Raistakka Naselle 2007


6th Finglish trip December 2007 #6

Philip "Phil" Raistakka (1935-2012) was the son of Leo and Sylvia (Nasi) Raistakka, he was born in Astoria, Oregon. He was the principal at the Naselle Youth Camp School, retiring in 1992. Phil was always an active community member. He was a member of the United Finnish Kaleva Brothers and Sisters Lodge #2 of Astoria, the Appelo Archives Center, and the Finnish-American Festival.

Anita's (nee Kilponen) grandfather came from Finland to Utah, USA, to work in the mines. Her parent's farm was in Salmon Creek, Washington. There were five generations of Kilponen's at the homestead at the same time. Anita is a longtime organizer of Naselle’s Finnish American Folk Festival. Their labrador retriever's name is Cola.
