Helmi Lepisto is making strawberry soft cake for Vaino, Mary, Mike and Sarah. Vaino is Helmi's big brother, Mary or Maija is Helmi's daughter, Mike is Helmi's son in law and Sarah is Helmi's granddaughter. Helmi is very active in the local Finnish community, just before we came she had held a meeting with eleven Finnish ladies, they keep the minutes in Finnish. Helmi has worked as a teacher of sign language.
Helmi told us about the most famous Rock resident Kaarlo Tuomi, who spied for both KGB and FBI in the 50s. Kaarlo lived with his family near the Rock Finn Hall, he moved with his family to Soviet Karelia in 1933. He fought with the Red Army against Finland in the Winter War 1939-40 and in the Continuation War 1941-1944. In 1954 he was recruited by the KGB and was sent to USA in 1958. FBI recruited him and he worked as a double agent until 1962.
